The Narendra Modi government has called for a “Special Session of Parliament.” Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said the session will be held from September 18 to 22. The government has not declared the agenda, but speculation is that key bills might be introduced. According to reports, the One Nation, One Election’ bill, the Uniform Civil Code, the Women’s Reservation Bill, Population Control Legislation, and the Universal Income Scheme could feature during the session. Many opposition leaders, currently in Mumbai, view it as a “kite flying” exercise. Rahul Gandhi called it an “indicator of little panic” amid the Adani share row.
