When we are brought up in homes which carry generational trauma, we try to imbibe them in our lifestyle and pass them on to the future generation. We get affected by the trauma and further make the next generation suffer as well. “Generational trauma is a traumatic event or events that began decades prior to the current generation and has impacted the way that an individual understands, copes with, and heals from trauma,” wrote Therapist Allyson Kellum-Aguirre.
