A day after Northeast Now published a video story on contractor Pankaj Sadhanidar, who is yet to be grilled as part of the probe into the Rajkanya Baruah case, the Assam DGP on Sunday summoned the investigating officer of the case.

Northeast Now in its video story revealed that the Dispur Police has so far failed to grill controversial contractor Pankaj Sadhanidar, who hosted a party at Vivanta by Taj Guwahati and in her late night return from that party, ‘drunk’ Rajkanya Baruah hit a number of PWD workers with her car.

Dispur Police re-arrested 29-year-old former Miss India finalist Rajkanya Baruah after she was bailed out within 24 hours of her arrest following the incident.

Guwahati-based neurosurgeon Dr. Navanil Barua was arrested by police on charges of helping model Rajkanya Baruah to avoid police investigation.

But despite being called, Pankaj Sadhanidar is yet to appear at the police station.

The Director General of Police, Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta summoned the deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Guwahati East and the investigating officer in connection with the case.

The two police officers reached the office of the Assam DGP at Ulubari after being summoned.

“DGP Mahanta summoned the police officers as he is not happy with the progress of the investigation,” police sources said.

“The DGP enquired about the progress in the investigation into the Rajkanya Baruah case,” sources added.

In the news, question was raised whether Pankaj Sadhanidar has not been brought under the purview of the investigation due to his closeness to the BJP?

Question has also been raised why suddenly the investigation into the Rajkanya Baruah case has remained stagnant after Dr Navnil Baruah’s arrest and acquittal.

Pankaj Sadhanidar has been accused of violating the rule of night curfew and organising his daughter’s birthday party at the city’s luxury hotel even after 10 pm.
