The Assam government has sanctioned an amount of Rs  116 crores for the construction of a mini secretariat for the Barak Valley in Silchar. 

This was informed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after visiting the construction site of the secretatiat building in Silchar on Saturday.

CM Sarma said that the mini secretariat building in Silchar will become opertaional within 3 years. 

He said thus after taking stock of progress of construction of the mini secretariat building.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is on a two-day Barak Valley visit.

The mini secretariat building in Silchar, once completed, will be a big relief for the people of the three districts of the valley: Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj. 

People of these three district will no longer have to visit Guwahati for official works, once the mini secretariat becomes operational.

On Sunday, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled the statue of last Dimasa Kachari King – Gobinda Chandra Narayana Hasnu at the Silchar Circuit House.  

“An astute ruler who kept the flag of Dimasa Kachari kingdom flying high, I bow my head in reverence to the great king & seek his blessings,” said CM Sarma.
