BORDER SECURITY FORCE APPREHENDED A SMUGGLER WITH MEDICINES AND SEIZED SILVER ON THE BORDER

On 09th December, 2021, under South Bengal Frontier, based on reliable information, in two separate incidents, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur and Tarali thwarted the attempt to smuggle 1.088 Kgs of Silver jewellery and apprehended a smuggler with various medicines.

On 09th December, 2021, at about 2000 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion, near Hakimpur check post stopped a suspicious person who was trying to go from village Swaroopada towards Tarali village. When the jawans searched this person, 44 Derobene ointment creams were recovered from the pocket of his pants, which was being taken from India to Bangladesh for the purpose of smuggling. The estimated value of the seized medicines is Rs 3,960. The troops immediately took the smuggler into custody along with the medicines.

The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Faizul Rehman Sardar, age 55 yeras, village Hakimpur, PS Swarupnagar, District North 24 Parganas.

During the preliminary interrogation, the apprehended smuggler told that he is involved in smuggling. He further told that today he had obtained all these medicines from Osman Mistry, a smuggler from his own village. After crossing the BSF duty line, they were to be given back to Osman Mistry. For this work he has got 200 rupees.

In another incident, on 09th December, 2021, the jawans of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, while on duty at the border, at about 1205 hrs, saw a suspicious Glamor bike (WB 07 C 5249) coming towards the International Border. He was going from Nityanand Kathi to the village Tarali. The troops stopped the bike rider for the purpose of search, he left the bike and fled. When the troops reached the spot and searched the bike, 1.088 Kgs Silver was recovered from its air filter, which is estimated to cost Rs. 55,096/-.

The apprehended smugglers along with seized medicines and Silver have been handed over to the custom office, Tentulia.

The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the 112 Battalion, which resulted in the apprehend of 01 smuggler along with medicines and also the seizure of 1.088 Kgs of Silver jewellery. He said that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty.
