BSF APPREHENDED 02 BANGLADESHI SMUGGLERS ALONG THE WITH COSMETIC AND MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

On 06 January, 2022, the troops of BSF apprehended a truck driver and helper along with the truck and cosmetic and miscellaneous items from the South Bengal Frontier area of responsibility. The total value of the seized items and the truck is Rs.5,50,000/-. The smugglers were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh from the area of Border Out Post Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion, North 24 Parganas District.

On 06 January, 2022 at around 1000 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, while on check post duty, intercepted an empty Bangladeshi truck which was going from India to Bangladesh. When BSF troops checked the truck, some cosmetic items and medicines (Genecel Tablets, Glyco Net, Propranolol Tablets, Flavedon Tablets, Clinic Plus Shampoo, Dove Shampoo, Fog Body Spray) were recovered from the cabin of the truck. At the same time, the BSF troops apprehended the truck driver and the helper. The apprehended smugglers identified as 1) Nayan Shaikh, age 25, (driver), S/o-Abdul Majid Sheikh, Village-East Senpara, Post Office-Quyt, PS-Daulatpur, District-Khulna, Bangladesh,
2) Mohd. Alameen shikdar, age 24, Helper, s/o -Dilbar shikdar, Village- Maniktala, Post Office- Kuyt, PS-Daulatpur, District-Khulna, Bangladesh.

During preliminary interrogation, the apprehended smuggler Nayan Sheikh revealed that he is a Bangladeshi national and works as a truck driver. He revealed that he drives the truck of Mohammad Konkan Sheikh (Village Maniktala, Police Station Daulatpur, District Khulna, Bangladesh). He revealed that yesterday he and his helper had come to India for delivery of goods and after delivery, he had parked his truck in Ghojadanga parking lot. He revealed that on 05 January, at about 1700 hrs he was sitting in the truck but his helper had brought some items to Chaurangi market. Today that items was seized by the BSF troops during checking.

During preliminary interrogation, the helper of the truck, Mohammad Alameen Shikdar, revealed that he has a shop in Bangladesh. After coming to India, as soon as his truck stopped in Ghojadanga parking, he had left Chaurangi Market to get some items for his shop. When he was going back to Bangladesh after keeping the items in the truck, the BSF apprehended him along with all items during checking.

The apprehended smugglers are being handed over to Customs Office Ghojadanga along with the seized items.

The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the 153 Battalion, in which they have thwarted the smuggling attempt by arresting 02 smugglers and seized cosmetic items and other items. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his troops on duty. The officer clearly stated that they will not allow any kind of smuggling from their area.
