FIR lodged after Geelani’s body draped in Pakistani flag | India News

NEW DELHI: An FIR has been registered against unknown people under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after the body of deceased Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was seen draped in a Pakistani flag before burial.
Geelani, who had for long led the hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, died on Wednesday at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar.
Restriction was imposed on mass gatherings and movement of people following Geelani’s death. Mobile internet and broadband services were also snapped to avoid any untoward incident.
They were restored after 10pm on Friday as the Valley remained peaceful, but curbs were re-imposed on Saturday morning.
Videos of Geelani’s body being draped in a Pakistani flag emerged after the restoration of internet services, reports say.
