Sri Lankan authorities seized Rs 2.5 billion worth drugs allegedly originating from Chinese-controlled Gwadar, a port city on the southwestern coast of Balochistan in Pakistan.
Four people were arrested for possession of these drugs.
They were transporting heroin and crystal methamphetamine (ice) to Sri Lankan boats from a Dhow that originated from Gwadar which forms part of China’s One Belt, One Road initiative.
But Sri Lankan police did not disclose the nationality of those arrested, though one source said all arrested were Pakistanis.
During the raid carried out by the Sri Lankan Excise Department, 100 kilograms of heroin and 100 kilograms of ice drug were seized.
