Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has denied any knowledge of removal of restrictions on Pakistani visas for Bangladeshis.
” I have no.knowledge of Pakistan High Commission here lifting all restrictions on visas for Bangladeshi citizens, “Momen told mediapersons in reaction to an Al Jazeera story that claimed the Pakistan High Commission in.Dhaka has lifted all restrictions on visas for Bangladesh nationals.
Bangladesh had sought an official apology from Pakistan for the 1971 genocide on Thursday.
B’desh state Minister for Foreign affairs Shahriar Alam said apology for the genocide, completing the repatriation of Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh and settling the division of assets were essential to sort out on Thursday when Pakistan’s new High Commissioner in Dhaka Imran Ahmed Siddiqui paid a courtesy call to him.
But Pakistan HC claimed, as the news published, “Pakistan has already removed all restrictions on Pakistani visas for Bangladeshi citizens,” said a statement by the Pakistan High Commission in Bangladesh after a meeting between Pakistani High Commissioner Imran Ahmed Siddiqui and Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam on Thursday.
“Bangladesh’s restrictions on Pakistani nationals are still in place, and that is why I informed the state minister that we have already lifted all bars from our side,” Imran Ahmed Siddiqui said to media.
