NEPC proposes industrial corridor, satellite township in Dibrugarh City Master Plan 2045

The Ahmedabad-based Nektor Engineers & Project Consultants (NEPC) has proposed an industrial corridor, satellite township among others in its GIS-based master plan for Dibrugarh in upper Assam.

NEPC was allotted the task to formulate the Dibrugarh City Master Plan 2045 after it was selected under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

As against the existing master plan, which covers an area of 71.83 km, the new master plan covers an area of 391 sq km with a plan period up to 2045.

Under the new master plan, the northern boundary will be river Brahmaputra, Maijan lake and Greenwood tea estate, the southern boundary will be river Burhi Dihing and Gamon bridge, the eastern boundary will be Lahowal, Dikom and Tamulbari tea estate and the western boundary will be Modhupur village, Chawlkhowa NC village, Jogoloni grant village, Kutuha Nagaon and Baligaon.

There is also the proposal to extend the Dibrugarh Municipal area from the existing 15.5 sq km to 47.45 sq km.

The master plan proposes setting up of an industrial corridor and inner ring road (29 km) as well as an outer ring road (53 km).

Development of a new satellite township in 6 locations has been proposed.

The other salient features are construction of Logistic, Truck Terminal, Goods and Market Yard between Dibrugarh Bypass and Trans-Arunachal highway, Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) for better state connectivity at NH-37 and Dibrugarh Bypass intersection, International Convention Centre, Zoo near Jokai Reserve Forest.
