A fresh exodus of Myanmar nationals into Mizoram in India has been reported owing to violence in the neighbouring country. 

According to a report published in The Indian Express, as many as 1546 Myanmarese refugees have entered two districts of Mizoram — Hnahthial and Champhai — between Friday and Monday.  

The fresh influx of Myanmar nationals into India was reported following intense gunbattle between the militia of the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Myanmar Army.

The clashes have been reported from near the India-Myanmar border areas in the neighboouring country.

According to the report, 278 refugees have taken shelter in Champhai district of Mizoram, while another 1268 refugees have entered Hnahthial district. 

The civil society organisations, reportedly, are helping the refugees on humanitarian grounds by providing shelter and food. 

Meanwhile, the Mizoram government has been helping thousands of refugees, who crossed over to India from Myanmar after the country’s military wrested power by staging a coup in March.
