Security threats on the rise in Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram: Congress

The Congress party has stated that the security threats in the Northeast states of Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram are on the rise. 

The Congress party stated this in the resolution that it adopted at the CWC meeting, which was held in New Delhi on Saturday. 

“…in Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram, there are growing threats to security,” the resolution adopted by the Congress Working Committee stated. 

The Congress said that the fear and apprehension have gripped the people residing along the inter-state border areas in Northeast due to rise in border conflicts.

“Inter-state disputes have flared up suddenly driving fear in the minds of the people living in the border villages,” the CWC resolution added. 

By inter-state border conflicts, the Congress party was referring to the recent Assam-Mizoram border clashes and tensions along the Assam-Meghalaya border. 

Meanwhile, the Congress party also raised the issue of slow progress of the Naga Peace Talks. it accused the Centre of adopting a “ham-handed approach” in the matter, resulting in delay in signing of a final accord. 

“The Naga Peace Talks have suffered a serious setback due to the ham-handed approach of the Modi government,” the Congress said.
