Sukhbir Singh Badal calls Navjot Singh Sidhu ‘misguided missile’ after he resigns from his post

Taking a jibe at Navjot Singh Sidhu, who recently resigned from his post of Punjab Congress President, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal called him a ‘misguided missile’. Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday said that Navjot Singh Sidhu is like a missile that does not know its destination.

In a dramatic turn of events in Punjab, the very vocal Navjot Singh Sidhu handed in his resignation to Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday afternoon. Sidhu was appointed as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) on July 23.

“I had earlier said that Navjot Singh Sidhu is a misguided missile that does not know where it will go or will kill whom. He first destroyed Captain Amarinder Singh by becoming Punjab Congress president. Then, wiped out his party,” Badal told media persons.

Sukhbir Singh Badal did not stop at that. The Shiromani Akali Dal leader said that Navjot Singh Sidhu should go to Mumbai in order to save Punjab. “Even I had warned about the kind of person Sidhu is. Every kid in Punjab knows that. He is an egoistic man. If Punjab is to be saved then I request Sidhu Sahib to go to Mumbai,” he added.

However, as per the last known, Congress has not been accepted Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation. Top leadership has asked the state leadership to resolve the matter at their own level first, they said.

The fallout

Earlier, former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also resigned from his post following tussles with Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The problem started after the Congress party appointed Navjot Sidhu as its Punjab Chief in July even though Captain Amarinder Singh was not happy with the decision.

In August, four ministers, and approximately two dozen party legislators raised complaints against Captain Amarinder Singh.
