SWARNIM VIJAY DWAR INAUGURATED AT FORT WILLIAM TODAY

Paying rich tributes to the Indian Army soldiers and ”Mukti Yodhas” (liberation warriors) who laid down their lives during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, that led to the birth of Bangladesh, Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command inaugurated Swarnim Vijay Dwar on 15 Dec 2021 as an apt recognition and homage to the supreme sacrifice of martyrs of Indo Pak war in 1971.

Swarnim Vijay Dwar provides entry to Vijay Smarak War Memorial in Fort William. It consists of a main gate and two wing walls along the gate displaying Comd logo in centre and four murals on the wing walls signifying, The Battle of Gangasagar, Signing of surrender document by Gen Niazi, Tri service co-operation and synergy during operation, and the role of Mukti Bahini Yodhas, respectively. The gate was constructed by the Military Engineering Services in a record time of 58 days.

Swarnim Vijay Dwar is an apt recognition and homage to the supreme sacrifice of martyrs of Indo Pak war in 1971. The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished guests of Armed Forces at Fort William.
