The People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) and United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) have jointly claimed the responsibility for Wednesday night’s Manipur ambush.

Three Assam Rifles jawans were reportedly killed while six others were injured in a deadly ambush on the Indian Army unit near Myanmar border in Chandel district of Manipur on Wednesday night.

Claiming the responsibility, a joint statement has been issued by Ruichumhao, defence secretary, MNPF; MM Ngouba, chief of army staff, PLA and Paresh Asom, vice chairman and chief of army staff, ULFA(I).

“Internationally ‘the era of expansionism is over’ but not the Indian expansionism,” said the joint statement.

The militant outfits in the statement said: “As the entire world has made up its mind against expansionism, the people of WeSEA (Western South East Asia) are also countering against the expansionism of India.”

“As a course of independence struggle against Indian colonisation and expansionism, a combined force of Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF), Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) and United Liberation Front of Asom — Independent (ULFA-I) had conducted a joint military offensive against 10F (Indian Occupation Forces) on July 29, 2020 at Sajik Tampak area of Manipur,” the joint statement said.

The outfits claimed during the “joint military offensive” around 4 personnel of the Indian armed forces were killed and many others were wounded.

“We deeply regret that in our liberation struggle our brothers of WeSEA are killed or wounded in action,” it said.

The militant outfits also termed the Indian forces as “superspreader” of Coronavirus.

“We are also calling upon the people of WeSEA to stay away from the Indian forces as they are the super spreader of infectious Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),” the joint statement added.
