Tatmadaw (government troops) and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) have clashed on November 24 near Mogok.
Tatmadaw True News Information Team spokesman Brig. Gen. Zaw Min Tun told Mizzima that in a one-hour long clash Tatmadaw lost one soldier and one was wounded. TNLA spokesman Maj. Tar Aik Kyaw said that this was an accidental engagement and it lasted only about 20 minutes and both sides had already withdrawn.
TNLA did not yet know the casualty figures .
The fighting saw use of  heavy weapons and TNLA troops withdrew after fighting, TNLA spokesman Maj. Tar Aik Kyaw added.
This is the first military encounter between the army and an ethnic rebel army .
The ruling NLD which swept back to power in recent parliament elections says it is committed to resume a comprehensive peace process with ethnic rebel armies to find a ‘truly federal solution’ to Myanmar’s long festering conflicts.
