Two NLFT (BM) rebels held in Tripura



Tripura Police on Friday nabbed two cadres belonging to the proscribed National Liberation Front of Tripura- (Biswa Mohan) from the Dhalai district of the state.

Police said based on specific information shared by Special Branch, Gandacherra police apprehended the two NLFT (BM) militants from a vehicle near Dangabari under the Gandacherra sub-division.

These two militants were identified as Sanjoy Tripura (30) alias Sapre of Khagendra Roaja Para under Ambassa police station in Dhalai district and Akhindra Debbarma (31) alias Shyama of Kata Lutma under Salema police station in Dhalai district.

Two smartphones and cash Rs 15,000 were seized from their possession.

The arrested militants were allegedly involved in extortion activities in different areas of the Dhalai district.

Based on the input provided by arrested militants, two overground workers of the outfit were apprehended from the Raishyabari area.

They were identified as Bailya Jamatia (28) of Paradise Chowmuhani under Raishyabari police station and Rabi Kumar Tripura (45) of Chailyatoli village under Baghaicherra police station in Rangamati district of Bangladesh.
