The NCC cadets of NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim have paid homage to the great martyrs of our country who fought valiantly in the Indo – Pak war 1971 and made the supreme sacrifice to uphold the dignity of their regiments as also the sovereignty of India. While doing so, the cadets have also paid homage to other soldiers who laid down their lives fighting the terrorists.
The NCC cadets of Group HQ Kol ‘B’ and Kol ‘C’ organized the Homage Ceremony of martyrs in the NCC Training Institute, Kolkata(NCC Club House) as part of ‘Vijay Shrankhala and SanshkritionkaMahasangam’ mega event aimed to celebrate 75 years of our independence and 50 years of our victory over Pakistan in 1971 war. The function was attended by a large number of Officers, Associated NCC Officers and cadets of all three wings. The cadets also felicitated the next of kin of our great martyrs.
The Homage Ceremony was graced by Captain Nariendra Kumar Jain (Retd), brother of Gallantry awardee Late Lieutenant Vinod Kumar Jain, NauSena Medal (Posthumously) who made the supreme sacrifice fighting the enemy aboard INS Khukri on 09 Dec 1971. Smt Shukla Bandopadhyay, mother of gallantry awardee Late Captain AnirbanBandopadhyay, Sena Medal (Posthumously) of 1st Battalion the 4th Gorkha Rifles and Smt Debala Pal mother of SepoyUjjawala Pal were also the guests in the Homage Ceremony. The cadets honoured and paid rich tributes to the fallen heroes and have reminisced their acts of gallantry and chivalry in the face of enemy. The guests had a very fruitful and motivational interaction with the cadets who pledged their dedication to uphold the unity and integrity of our great country. The cultural events and songs presented by the cadets filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervour.
